Glory Bound (Music To Praise Our Lord)

I was requested to join the Springfield OR, Disciples Of Christ Church to help bring some contemporary music to their congregation. When I started the people interested in being in the Music Ministry were between the ages of 10 to 85 years old. Quite a pallet of experience. At first it seemed a challenge to find a balance of material and volume to meet everyones desires. Musicians and congregants. For about 6 weeks we were getting complaints from some different groups within the church, either the congregation, the board or the band. It seemed to be getting more intense as we went. I suggested that we have a meeting after church one Sunday afternoon and see if we could find a formula that would solve as many challenges as humanly possible.

At First we discussed two services, different styles of music, different types of music at different weekends etc. Eventually I asked why did they choose to have me at the church and was told the board had decided that they needed more modern music in order to not lose all of the younger families. As we talked more, the younger musicians liked to play louder than was necessary to be heard and the older congregants didn't want to lose all their favorites hymns

As the meeting progressed, about 35 in attendance, Ministerial Team, Board Members, Music Ministry Team, and Congregents, I suggested that we combine different types of music, Contemporary and Traditional, tone down the newer Praise songs and liven up the Hymns a little and every one find a compromise in the volume, lower than modern and a little louder than before. We all agreed to try this solution and it worked out well for everyone with some adjustments as we went along.

I was able to make a recording of our results and within about 6 months we as a church decided to invest in makin this CD for all to enjoy the fruits of our Ministry. I hope you are uplifted by our Ministry.
